IGCSE (Syllabus)

Stepping stones High School is offering ‘The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) a globally recognized qualification, since the 2018 academic year.

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is one of the most recognised qualifications around the world. IGCSE courses are renowned for developing vital educational skills, including a recall of knowledge, oral skills, problem-solving, initiative, teamwork and investigative skills.

Cambridge Primary starts learners on an exciting educational journey, setting out what they should be able to do at each stage of their primary education. Typically for learners aged 5 to 11 years, it develops learner skills and understanding through the primary years in English along with mathematics, science and Humanities.

Assessment is not limited to conventional written papers. They consist of a variety of tests e.g. oral and listening tests. The assessment is aimed at a wide ability range of students, with an eight-point grading scale. IGCSE is a balanced curriculum with a flexible study course. At each stage, students build on their previous learning – and our syllabus design reflects a ‘spiral’ approach, providing a natural progression throughout the primary years and beyond. This gives students of all ability levels the freedom to choose subjects that are right for them and, thereby, the opportunity to score good grades.  They also enable detailed, structured reporting to parents.
